Miranda - Piano Teacher and Owner
Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Miranda Swientach began her musical education at age eight with piano lessons, then voice lessons at age thirteen. Throughout elementary and junior high school, she performed and competed in a variety of music festivals and competitions, and participated in a number of local youth orchestras. Her piano studies with Heather Bottomley continued until she moved and got accepted into Ambrose University.
At Ambrose University, Miranda studied classical piano with Edwin Gnandt, Don Quantz, and Ian Charter. She regularly performs in recitals and has completed all levels of RCM. Miranda was accepted into the RCM's prestigious Honours program and was also awarded Honours with Distinction in 2013. Miranda graduated Ambrose University in 2017 with a Bachelor in Piano Pedagogy and a minor in Business.
Miranda started teaching piano at age fourteen and has expanded and taught ever since. Miranda has a passion for music teaching, providing private piano lessons to a diverse group of piano students, from young children to older adults, beginners through advanced levels. She offers a balanced music curriculum which includes classical piano, piano technique, popular piano, contemporary piano, music theory, ear training, sigh reading, improvisation, performance, memorisation, arranging, composition, musical structures, and music history.
In addition to her love for classical literature, Miranda also has a love for Ragtime music. She has been studying ragtime piano, theory, and improvisation since 2013. Miranda has been inspired to write a number of her own compositions, and explore various genres of music.
